Jewellery Trends - Fall 2013

Come fall and the catwalks of the world are abuzz with activity. Some of the leading design houses get together with their brightest creative minds to come up with creations that continue to make waves long after the ramp lights have been turned down. Apart from the obvious range of clothes and drapes, it is the accessories that have been all the rage in recent years. This increased traction hasn't gone unnoticed and today, everyone focuses on this lucrative side of the business.

Some of the hottest trends that have been noticed so far are:

Antique or period jewellery is enjoying a renaissance, with designers and customers falling equally for the ornate look that comes with it. Think heavily embellished creations, studded with gemstones and featuring a patina inspired finish.

The house of Dior appears to have stepped into a time-machine and travelled back almost six decades to   come up with a collection that pays homage to the curvaceous silhouette of women. Think designs featuring
pearls, diamond earrings and layered necklaces that would mirror both, the shape as well as the look of
the women from back then.

Silver and silver based designs are going to be huge this season. Not only does the metal look cleaner, but it also lends itself beautifully to minimalistic as well as ornate designs.

Nature has a firm grip on some designer’s minds, who seem to have spent a considerable amount of time in company of floral inspiration. Expect a riot of colours, with all the varied hues that can be seen on plants in full bloom in some of the creations that’ll make an appearance this season.

The art deco movement too is coming back strongly this season, so expect to see more influences from that era. This together with alternative materials such as leather, wood, semi-precious stones, etc. are going to be quite the ones in demand.

But whatever be the trends of the season, the focus is going to be on the person sporting them and how well it goes with the various nuances of their personality. This is going to give customers a chance to explore their different shades and cater to each one in a way that is wholly individualistic and hence, by extension, unique!
